Reading Notes (Part C) of Ramayana

This reading was actually my favorite so far. It was the easiest for me to follow, and I feel like I could construct a story from this. Sita reminds me of snow white when she sees Ravana as an old hermit, and he takes advantage of her kindness (the same trap that the old hag used in the fairytale). Also, Rama seems like a hero in this part, but he also has enough courage to ask for help. The end of this reading also leaves on a cliffhanger! The men need to cross the ocean to find her, and that is where this section ends!

·      Ravana abducts Sita
-       Ravana is the antagonist in the stories and is the great king of Lanka (maybe he feels threatened by the rule and success of Rama)
-       Lakshmana leaves Sita to help his brother
-       He disguises himself as an old poor hermit, and she was already afraid because Rama needs help
-       Sita is kind to the old hermit, but he turns back into his normal self
-       He flies away with her
-       Sounds like snow white and the apple, she was nice to the old woman and she poisoned her with the apple
·      Ravana kills Jatayu while he tries to rescue Sita
-       Rama and brother return just in time to see him before he dies
-       Dies before telling themw here Ravana escaped to with Sita
·      Sita’s Jewelry
-       Sita drops her necklace while she is being carried away
-       Monkeys found it on the ground and Sugriva gives it to Rama and agrees to help find her
·      Begin searching
-       Sugriva sends out a huge army to try to find Sita

-       Eventually they need to cross the ocean to find another lead or hopefully find her
